                      The Retired and Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP)

                      Description

                      An RSVP volunteer provides companionship through in-person visits, phone calls, or letter writing, per the client's level of comfort. RSVP volunteers also provide respite (temporary relief for disabled/dementia caregivers) for caregivers. RSVP Volunteers are a liaison to provide information about community resources, such as grocery shopping, transportation, and other services necessary to maintain independence.                       Eligibility

                      Call if interested in being a volunteer or a client who needs a volunteer. Volunteers must be 55 and older, preferably retired or desire to provide at least 1 hour of community service a week, with flexible hours. Clients served are homebound, disabled, isolated, or otherwise would like companionship or respite relief. Volunteers undergo a criminal background check. COVID-19 UPDATE: Following all CDC and State guidelines.

                          HEAT Crisis Assistance Program

                          Description

                          The HEAT Program provides year-round energy assistance and energy related crisis assistance for eligible low-income households throughout Utah. The program runs each year from October 1 through September 30. COVID-19 UPDATE: Following all CDC and State guidelines.

                          Photo ID for primary applicant; Social Security cards for everyone in the household; most recent utility bills; proof of ALL household income from previous month. Optional documents which may increase HEAT benefit: proof of medical expenses paid the previous month; proof of child support and/or alimony paid previous month; proof of disability; birth certificate for a child in home age 5 or under

                          Eligibility

                          Crisis Assistance (available in the off-season of the HEAT program) eligibility: for those experiencing unforeseen emergency situations; eligibility is decided on a case-by-case basis. Regular HEAT season (from November - April) eligibility: total household income at 150% of the federal poverty level or below, household is responsible for paying home energy costs, and household contains at least one US citizen or qualified non-citizen. Help available to household one time from November to April. (Home-bound clients can begin scheduling appointments early starting on October 1, 2018.)

                                  Individuals, families, elderly persons (60 years of age or older), and the handicapped who are poor and meeting 125 percent or less of the current federal poverty income guidelines are eligible to participate in the Weatherization Assistance Program. However, priority is given to the elderly and handicapped, high-energy consumption, emergency situations, and where pre-school children are present.
