Description:

Agency supervises two basic classifications of individuals: probationers and parolees. An individual on probation may have served some jail time, but it is generally someone who has committed a crime and been sentenced by the courts to be supervised in the community while held to a higher standard than the general public. A parolee is an individual who was sentenced to serve prison time, but who was subsequently released back into the community by the Board of Pardons and Parole before expiration of a sentence. Like probationers, parolees are supervised and held to a higher standard of rules than a general member of the public.
