Description:
The HEAT Program provides year-round energy assistance and energy related crisis assistance for eligible low-income households throughout Utah. The program runs each year from October 1 through September 30. It is advised that individuals continue making payments towards heating and/or cooling until the funds have been approved for their household. Individuals don't need to be in debt with heating/cooling costs to apply for HEAT. Appointments available at various locations throughout Davis, Weber, and Morgan Counties. For a limited time, those who qualify for utility payment assistance, may also qualify for water and/or cooling payment assistance.
COVID-19 UPDATE: Offices are closed to the walk-in public at this time. While no face-to-face interviews or appointments are taking place, HEAT applications will still be processed. Apply online with Department of Workforce Services (DWS), or submit a paper application.

Home Energy Assistance Target (HEAT) Program
Description
The HEAT Program provides year-round energy assistance and energy related crisis assistance for eligible low-income households throughout Utah. The program runs each year from October 1 through September 30. It is not required to be shut off nor have shut off notice to apply for benefits. Clients with medical equipment can call for same or next day help. Accommodations can be made for home-bound clients. For a limited time, those who qualify for utility payment assistance, may also qualify for water and/or cooling payment assistance. COVID-19 UPDATE: Offices are closed to the walk-in public at this time. While no face-to-face interviews or appointments are taking place, HEAT applications will still be processed through the Department of Workforce Services.

Required Documents
Photo ID and Social Security cards for every household member (including children). Non-citizens in household bring copies of Bureau of Citizenship & Immigration Services (BCIS) documents showing legal status in the U.S. Must bring following documents from previous month: proof of all GROSS earned and unearned income (including child support and/or alimony), proof of payment for medical or dental expenses, copies of electric and gas utility bills. If bills are in landlord's name, bring copy of lease for verification, or have landlord fill out Landlord Statement form. Verification will be needed if household includes anyone over 60, under 6, or disabled.
Eligibility
Total household income at or below 150% of the Federal Poverty Level. Individual is responsible for paying home energy costs; household must contains at least one US citizen or qualified non-citizen.

Appointments available at various locations throughout Davis, Weber, and Morgan Counties. Call or visit scheduling website for specifics. Some appointments available in off-season. COVID-19 UPDATE: Offices are closed to the walk-in public at this time.
