American Cancer Society - Great West Division

A voluntary health organization that provides advocacy and information services to find a cure for, and prevent cancer. Provides information and support, connects patients with access to care, and non-emergency medical transportation. Provides Hope Lodge, a place to stay for cancer patients receiving treatment far away from home and the patient's caregiver. Also, related volunteer and court-ordered community service opportunities are available.

Patient/Family Housing
Description:

No-cost lodging is provided to cancer patients and caregivers traveling far from home for outpatient medical care related to the patient's cancer diagnosis.

Eligibility:
Patients staying at a Hope Lodge must be in active cancer treatment and permanently reside more than 40 miles or one hour away from their cancer treatment center. Each patient must be accompanied by a caregiver.

Health/Disability Related Support Groups
Description:

Provides support for breast cancer patients through Reach to Recovery Program. Breast cancer patients have the opportunity to talk about concerns, and ask questions.

Eligibility:
Patients with a breast cancer diagnosis of those who are facing a possible breast cancer diagnosis. Must live in the United States. Must be 17 years of age and older.

Description:

Court-ordered community service opportunities are available for special events set-up, loading/unloading boxes, transportation, and clerical positions in an organization working to eliminate cancer as a major health problem.

Non-Emergency Medical Transportation
Description:

Provides ground transportation through Road to Recovery Program. Transportation is provided to and from cancer-related medical appointments for people with cancer who do not have a ride or unable to drive themselves.

Eligibility:
Individuals with cancer who do not have a ride or are unable to drive themselves to appointments required to begin or complete cancer treatment.
Transportation for follow-up appointments after treatments cannot be provided.
