Bear River Association of Governments

A multi purpose government association and organization, utilizing the combined resources of three counties (Cache, Box Elder and Rich), to provide a more effective means for planning and development of the physical, economic, and human resources of the region. Services include area agencies on aging, government associations, home rehabilitation grants, indigent transportation, mortgage payment assistance, non emergency medical transportation, utility service payment assistance, veteran benefits assistance, and weatherization programs.

Non-Emergency Medical Transportation
Description:

Reimburses mileage to medical appointments, limited to $400 per year.

Eligibility:
Income below 150% of poverty and 60+ years of age, or disabled.

Utility Service Payment Assistance
Description:

Provides year-round energy assistance and energy related crisis assistance for eligible low-income households throughout Utah. The program runs each year from October 1 through September 30. A one-time benefit is provided per year per household, up to two utility accounts. Administers the Utility Moratorium Program to prevent winter utility shut-off between November 15 and March 15 of each winter. For a limited time, those who qualify for utility payment assistance, may also qualify for water and/or cooling payment assistance.

Eligibility:
Crisis Assistance (available in the off season of the HEAT program) eligibility: for those experiencing unforeseen emergency situations; eligibility is decided on a case by case basis. Regular HEAT season (from November to April) eligibility: total household income at 150% of the federal poverty level or below, household is responsible for paying home energy costs, and household contains at least one US citizen or qualified non citizen. Help available to households one time from November to April.

Veteran Benefits Assistance
Description:

Provides detailed information or to connect a veteran or caregiver of a veteran to veteran's benefits and services.

Eligibility:
U.S. military veterans, their families and caregivers.

Area Agencies on Aging
Description:

Services include information, assistance, individual counseling, support groups, training, respite, and some medical equipment and/or supplies to individuals 60+ years of age, their families, and caregivers.

Government Associations
Description:

Provide a forum to identify, discuss, study, and resolve area wide planning and development concerns.

Residents of Cache, Box Elder, and Rich counties.

Weatherization Programs
Description:

Furnace, insulation, and/or windows reparation or replacement. Generally, a one time program.

Eligibility:
Individuals, families, elderly persons (60 years of age or older), and the handicapped who are poor and meeting 125 percent or less of the current federal poverty income guidelines are eligible to participate in the Weatherization Assistance Program. However, priority is given to the elderly and handicapped, high energy consumption, emergency situations, and where pre school children are present.

Home Rehabilitation Grants
Description:

Provides funding to address inadequate housing. Low to moderate income families may borrow any amount of money at low interest rates to make needed and eligible repairs.

Eligibility:
80% of AMI and 18+ years of age.

Mortgage Payment Assistance
Description:

Provides short term mortgage payment assistance for homeowners primary residence and impacted by the COVID 19 pandemic.

Eligibility:
Must be impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic, and earn less than 80% of the Area Median Family Income (AMFI). Due to limited funds, priority will be given to those households with one or more of the following: Notice of Default, below 50% AMFI, include one or more persons with disabilities, one or more elderly persons, one or more children under 6 months, or household was approved the previous month but did not receive assistance. Indigent Transportation
Description:

Mileage reimbursement to rural families working to better their situation, limited to $800 annually.

Eligibility:
Income at 200% of poverty level or less, must have a child under 18, must live in rural part of the county.
