Housing Connect

Provides long term affordable housing assistance to the Salt Lake County community to connect people to quality affordable housing opportunities while promoting self sufficiency and neighborhood revitalization. Programs such as Housing Choice Voucher/HCV (formerly known as Section 8 Housing) and Public Housing typically have lengthy wait lists. Currently the Housing Choice Voucher waiting list is closed as is the waiting list for the County High Rise. Waiting lists for other programs are open and callers are encouraged to apply.

Description:

Provides affordable, subsidized housing opportunities for individuals and families. Housing options available for families, seniors, and/or people with disabilities. Does not provide emergency rental assistance nor emergency housing.

Eligibility:
Must meet income guidelines for all programs. Housing options available for families, seniors, and/or people with disabilities. Public Housing is available to families, elderly, and person with disabilities. Applicants must qualify under HUD established income limits and pass other screening criteria. Housing Choice Voucher is a federally funded, locally-administered rental assistance program that helps lower-income families, the elderly, and persons with disabilities.

M - F 8 am - 5 pm

Call or apply online for both programs. Wait list is open but lengthy. Call for updates or apply online. Placement on waiting list does not guarantee eligibility. Eligibility based on income, qualifications as to elderly, disabled, families, US citizenship, or eligible immigration status. If deemed eligible, a criminal background check and landlord references will be required.

Recognizes access to affordable housing is a major issue in the Salt Lake County community, develops and manages affordable housing, provides rent assistance, and connects people and communities to quality affordable housing opportunities while promoting self-sufficiency and neighborhood revitalization. Having a roof over their heads reduces worries and lets individuals and families focus on employment, education, health care, caring for their children and dependents, and otherwise building productive lives that, in turn, builds stronger, more vibrant communities.
