Utah Independent Living Center - Tooele

Private, nonprofit, non-residential facility that teaches independent living skills to people with disabilities. Services are public awareness/ education, supplies, assistance with technology equipment loans, advocacy, specialized information/ referral, utility service payment assistance, and volunteer opportunities.

Independent Living Skills Instruction
Description:

Classes customized for clients. Recreation activities are planned for clients monthly and some programs for youth 14 to 22 with disabilities are available.

Public Awareness/Education
Description:

Life Skills trainers work with students 13 to 22 years of age in local schools to meet independent living goals they have set and assisting them to transition from school to community living.

Client must have a disability that impairs activities of daily living and an expectation that services will be beneficial.

Description:

Nursing Home Transition program available for persons that don't want to go to a nursing home or want to transition out of a nursing home.

Medical Equipment/Supplies
Description:

Center can get medical supplies at 85% discount, when available.

Eligibility:
Persons must have a disability that impairs activities of daily living and an expectation that services will be beneficial.

First come, first served basis. Clients have to have cash available before ordering medical supplies; only cash accepted.

Assistive Technology Equipment Loan
Description:

Limited services at this time. Please call to arrange to pick up or return loaned equipment. Must be able to load/unload equipment without assistance. Center will loan equipment for 90 days.

Eligibility:
Client must have a disability that impairs activities of daily living and an expectation that services will be beneficial. People recovering from injuries can apply as well.

Event Coordination Volunteer Opportunities
Description:

Assists persons with disabilities to achieve greater independence by providing services as well as activities that enhance independent living skills while promoting the public's understanding, accommodation, and acceptance of their rights, needs, and abilities.
