Rose Park Neighborhood Center

Provides programs that support families and improve the educational outcomes of students living in Salt Lake City’s westside neighborhoods. Programs include adolescent English as a second language instruction, comprehensive immigration/naturalization services, parent/family involvement in education programs, and English language instruction volunteer opportunities.

English Language Instruction Volunteer Opportunities
Description:

Volunteers assist students in grades 7 1 12 learn to communicate in the English language one-on-one and small groups.

Eligibility:
1 - Fluent in speaking, reading, and writing English 2 - Respectful and willing to learn about different cultures 3 - Friendly, dependable, prompt, patient, flexible, and able to maintain confidentiality. 4 - Feel competent or/and familiar with Google Suites (Gmail, Docs, Sheets, etc.) 5 - Must be 18 years of age and older.

Description:

Provides comprehensive naturalization services including information, legal counseling, application completion, and filing assistance as well as legal representation when needed.

Parent/Family Involvement in Education
Description:

Helps immigrant families understand and navigate the U.S. school system. Offers classes and workshops for families learning to navigate and partner with schools. Collaborates with school-site leadership teams including families, educators, and community partners.

Eligibility:
Be a Senior at West or East High School, qualify for free or reduced lunch, keep an average GPA of 2.7 or better for each term, attend workshops at the Rose Park Neighborhood Center, participate in community service activities, parent or guardian support and participation in meetings and activities during the afternoon.

English as a Second Language
Description:

Offers both a year-round and intensive summer English program supplementing public education for youth in grades 7 - 12. The summer program runs three hours daily for six weeks. The year-round English program runs from September - May.
