Relay Utah 711

Provides specialized telephone equipment such as amplified volume control telephones, captioning telephones, neckloops, in-line amplifiers, and mobile phone options. The equipment is provided at no cost for qualified individuals who are Deaf, Hard of Hearing, or Speech-Challenged.

Description:

Provides a variety of telecommunication equipment including hearing assistive phones, caption phones, phones for people who are cognitively challenged or seeing impaired, and mobile accessories.

Eligibility:
To qualify for equipment, applicants must have a hearing or speech challenge and receive assistance from a public assistance program administered by a state agency, or an income of 200% or less of the 2024 federal poverty guidelines. Examples of public assistance programs include Medicaid, CHIP, Lifeline/Utah Telephone Assistance Program (UTAP), SNAP, or HEAT.

Description:

A nationwide telephone relay number that connects standard (voice) telephone users with deaf, hard of hearing, or speech-challenged individuals who use relay equipment. The client calls and is connected with a Communications Assistant (CA) who will connect them to the person they want to reach. The CA relays messages between the client and the other party and then relays the other party's responses.

Eligibility:
Deaf, hard of hearing, and/or speech disabled people who use text telephones (TTY's).
