Description:

Volunteers are needed to assist refugee families in a wide variety of services including case management, job development, foster care, health services, youth services, interpretation, transportation, housing, and more in an effort to empower clients to reach self-sufficiency. At minimum, volunteers are expected to spend 2-5 hours a week for 6 months helping families adjust to life in Utah and assist case managers with refugee transition and clerical assistance.

Eligibility:
Volunteer skills needed include: demonstrated ability to work in a team environment and ability to work with diverse groups of people and other community agencies; an understanding of the overall resettlement process and the programs that CCS administers and provides for refugees; multicultural sensitivity and demonstrated ability to be courteous to clients and CCS staff; displays sensitivity to the needs of clients, their families, visitors, co-workers, volunteers and other persons with whom you may interact; ability to maintain confidentiality.

Accepts kitchen, living room, storage furniture and limited bedroom furniture and utensils for giveaway to new refugee clients. Unable to accept mattresses, bedding, linens, or stuffed toys due to health restrictions.

Description:

Immigration Program assists immigrants seeking eligibility and services for visas, family reunification, petitions, work permits, naturalization, adjustment of status, and translation and interpretation services. Outreach to community groups seeking such assistance.

Eligibility:
No set restrictions, but services are intended for low-income clients. Clients who make more than 200% of poverty are generally referred to private immigration legal services. Consultations are only available through Salt Lake location, but clients can be served statewide via phone or email.

Call to schedule appointment during normal business hours; walk in for immigration consultations: W 8:30 am - 12 noon, 1 - 5 pm.

Volunteers are needed to help the coordinator with organizing and sorting warehouse, assembling furniture and donation kits. Opportunities available to individuals and groups (2 - 20).

Individuals ages 13 and older. Must be able to lift 50 lbs and over.
