Eye Care America

A public service program of the American Academy of Ophthalmology providing referrals to eye care through volunteer ophthalmologists (Eye M.D.) to those who qualify. A comprehensive medical eye screening and eye exam and care are provided for anything diagnosed at the initial visit for up to one year at no out of pocket cost for the physician's services.

A comprehensive medical eye screening and eye exam and care are provided for anything diagnosed at the initial visit for up to one year at no out of pocket cost for the physician's services.

Eligibility:
Those who are age 65 or older and who have not seen an EyeMD in three of more years may be eligible to receive a comprehensive, medical eye exam and up to one year of care at no out of pocket cost for any disease diagnosed during the initial exam.

Senior Program: US or legal resident age 65 or older not belonging to an HMO or have eye care benefits through the VA; have not seen an eye doctor in 3 or more years.

Glaucoma Program: Those who are determined to be at increased risk for glaucoma (by age, race and family history) and have not had an eye exam in 12 months or more may be eligible to receive a no cost glaucoma eye exam if they are uninsured.
