Boys and Girls Clubs of Greater Salt Lake - Spence Eccles Club

Provides youth enrichment programs including after school and out of school care, guidance, and recreation such as day camps, with emphasis on youth development for all youth 1st grade to 12th grade. Trained staff provide the young members with guidance in adopting healthy lifestyles, pursuing educational objectives through tutoring, resolving conflicts peacefully, and improving overall relationships. Goal is to inspire and empower youth, families, and communities to realize their full potential as productive, responsible, and caring citizens. Clubs offer evidence based programs; related volunteer and court community services opportunities available. Serves Salt Lake City's Marmalade and Capitol West Neighborhoods.

General Recreational Activities/Sports
Description:

Provides guidance and recreation with emphasis on youth development for all youth ages 6 to 18 years. Sports include 3 on 3 basketball, indoor/outdoor soccer, flag football and others.

Court Ordered Community Service Sites
Description:

Cleaning, maintenance, landscaping, special events to fulfill court appointed service hours.

Eligibility:
Only accepts youth offenders ages 6 to 18. No violent, sexual or severe drug offenses.
Service Hours:
M - F 2:30 - 6:30 pm
Intake Procedure:
Youth volunteers under age 18 do not complete the adult volunteer process, they become registered Club members and work through the teen program.

Day Camps
Description:

Summer Camp runs from June to August. Provides guidance, with emphasis on youth development for youth grades 1st through 12th. Camps are offered during the summer months only. Gym activities, tech center activities, field trips, guidance by youth development professionals, and meals.

Youth ages 6 to 18.

Juniors Summer Program (1st grade - 6th grade): M - F 11 am - 6 pm Teen Summer Program (7th grade - 12th grade): M - F 11 am - 6 pm Juniors School Year Program: M - Th 2:30 - 6:30 pm Teen School Year Program: M - Th 2:30 - 6:30 pm

Juniors and Teens: Annual membership fee $20; no cost to those staying in a motel or shelter.

Tutoring Volunteer Opportunities
Description:

Help youth age 6 to 18. Responsibilities vary by club location and time of year. Opportunities available for individuals and groups.

Eligibility:
Adults age 18 and older. Volunteer commitment of one (1) hour per week for three (3) weeks.

M - F 2:30 - 6:30 pm
Intake Procedure:
Call for volunteer schedule and submit online volunteer application, attend a volunteer orientation, provide a background check. Volunteer applicant will be contacted for an interview with the volunteer coordinator.
Fees:
Background check fee $16.
