Helps children with the transition during a parent's divorce. The program provides children with skills to better express their feelings to their parents and minimize the negative effects of divorce on children. The class is taught by a mental health professional who discusses various coping alternatives to divorce.
The District Court has original jurisdiction to try all civil cases, all criminal felonies, such as homicides, assaults, sex and drug offenses, forgery, arson, and robbery, some misdemeanors, adoptions, and probate. Also, domestic relationship cases include divorces, child custody, and protective orders.
Education course assists parents in understanding their children's reactions to their divorce and to help their children adjust to it. Parents learn how children of different ages express their pain and loss, and parenting methods for helping them cope during and after the divorce.
