Provides access to programs that offer sterile needles and syringes and facilitates the safe disposal of used needles and syringes. It also provides linkage to substance use disorder treatment and access to care for the treatment of infectious diseases.
Works to prevent sickness and death from infectious diseases and environmental hazards. Monitors diseases and reduces their spread. Also responsible for monitoring and responding to potential bioterrorism threats/events, communicable disease outbreaks, epidemics, and other unusual occurrences of illness.
