BYU Center for Service and Learning

Offers community service programs including child mentoring programs, sports for individuals with disabilities, English as a second language, music instruction, tutoring services, and activities for individuals with cognitive disabilities. Programs are administered by student leaders, all of whom are volunteers.

Description:

Connects Hispanic families to the community by facilitating improved English reading and appreciation within Latino families. Volunteers go in pairs to read with the families in their homes.

Matches BYU students with individuals with cognitive disabilities. Provides one-on-one outings and mentoring. Also provides the opportunity to learn music and basic choreography in preparation for a concert at the end of the semester.

ACCESS and Impact are programs matching a male/female pair of volunteers to a child ages 4-12 years old (ACCESS) and 13-17 (IMPACT) Activities may include helping with homework, playing games, or watching movies.

Eligibility:
Participants must live in Provo or Orem and be between 4 and 17 years old.
