Centro de la Familia de Utah - Providence

Provides educational opportunities that empower parents to become advocates for their families and communities, engages youth so they become leaders, and provides children with a head start in their education so they reach their potential in school. Services include dating and violence prevention, diversity awareness, Early Head Start and Head Start, English as a second language, youth literacy programs, interpretation/translation volunteer opportunities, literacy volunteer opportunities, ethnic advocacy, and step/blended family support groups.

English as a Second Language
Description:

Assists adults in finishing their basic education (elementary and middle school) through online and textbook resources.

Eligibility:
Spanish speaking adults seeking assistance in complete basic education.

Youth Literacy Programs
Description:

Reading Is Fundamental (RIF) is the largest children's literacy nonprofit in the United States. It motivates children to read by delivering new books and literacy resources to those children who need them most.

Stepfamily/Blended Family Support Groups
Description:

A research based parenting program that is offered to Head Start families and the community in partnership with Utah State University. It is a seven week course for dating, cohabitating, or remarried couples who have a child or children from a previous relationship. Topics include: strengthening the couple's relationship, stepparent/stepchild relationships, co parenting with ex partners, legal and financial issues, and stress reducing strategies.

Literacy Volunteer Opportunities
Description:

Seeking volunteers for a wide variety of activities including: education, health care, nutrition programs, and special services such as office help, transportation, and field trip assistants.
