Adult Protective Services

Protects vulnerable adults by investigating allegations of abuse, neglect, and exploitation. According to Utah's Mandatory Reporting Law, 'Any person who has reason to believe that a vulnerable adult has been the victim of abuse, neglect and exploitation, must report.'

Description:

Investigates allegations of abuse, neglect, and exploitation of vulnerable adults. Signs of emotional and verbal abuse may be unexplained bruising, withdrawal and passivity, low self esteem, neglect such as dehydration, abandonment, malnourishment, soiled clothing, self neglect such as failure to maintain medical appointments, lack of glasses, dentures, hearing aides, exploitation such as the disappearance of possessions, overcharged home repairs, inadequate living environment, forced control of finances, little or no money for food and basic necessities.

Eligibility:
Vulnerable adults include those over the age of 65 or persons over the age of 18 with a mental or physical disability that substantially affects their ability to care for themselves.
