Blanding Head Start and Early Head Start

Head Start preschool programs serve children 3-4 years old. Early Head Start serves infants, toddlers up to age 3, and pregnant women. The program focuses on early learning, health, and family well-being to support school readiness. Services can be provided in the home environment or in a preschool setting.

Description:

Through education and planning with parents, HS addresses all aspects of parenting and child development including health, nutrition, safety, movement and music, social and emotional development, and the importance of the relationship between parent and child, and school readiness.

Eligibility:
Priority is given based on income and additional selection criteria.

In the Early Head Start Home-Based program, a home visitor provides weekly 1 1/2 hr visits to prenatal moms and families with children 0-3. EHS families attend a socialization group twice a month. Positive, nurturing parent-child interactions are the focus of all services and activities. Through education and planning with parents, EHS addresses all aspects of parenting and child development including: health, nutrition, safety, movement and music, social and emotional development, and the importance of the relationship between parent and child.

For pregnant mothers and children birth to 3.
