Carbon/Emery County Family Support Children's Justice Center

A home-like facility that serves children who might have be victims of child abuse and or neglect. Children visit the center while investigators meet with them and their parents. The Crisis Nursery is a child abuse prevention program. When parents are feeling overwhelmed, or may be handling an emergency, can bring children in for temporary care. The program does not provide child care for work and school.

Description:

Process designed to help children feel safe and comfortable while they are being interviewed regarding alleged abuse. Audio and video equipment is used to preserve the interview for evidence and eliminate the need for multiple interviews. A multi-disciplinary team coordinates the interview process and assesses the needs of the children and the families for support services.

Class is offered to all parents, grandparents, and teen parents. Nurturing Parenting is designed to stop dysfunction and engage individuals and families in the process of building positive nurturing beliefs, knowledge, and skills.

Description:

Provides child care for respite and crisis situations. Respite care is for scheduled appointments or when parents/caretakers need a break. Crisis care is for parents/caretakers who are in crisis and are unable to attend to children during these times.

Examples include: doctor appointments, medical emergencies, mental health appointments, escaping family violence, attending parenting/divorce classes, AA or Narcotic Anonymous meetings.

Children can be brought in only by the parents or legal guardian.

Eligibility:
The parent or caregiver must present the need for services. They must communicate the exact reason for services so we can better serve them. The children must fall within the ages of birth to 11 years.

Intake Procedure:
A parent or caretaker may call the center before hand to schedule a time to fill out the paperwork. The paperwork takes approximately 15 to 20 minutes.

A medical evaluation offered on all children brought
into the Children's Justice Center for child abuse allegations. Medical evaluation consists of well child checks, education and may involve a child sexual abuse exam.
