The Family Place Utah - Smithfield

Protects children and families who are at risk of being abused or neglected. Provides an emergency hotline, counseling, prevention, temporary child care, and referral/ support for families in crisis.

Description:

Professional therapy focused on issues that affect families, including relationship distress, mental health, trauma, child abuse, domestic violence, and sexual assault. Individual, family, and group services. Evidence-based, affirming.

Children who are at risk of being abused or neglected can be brought to the Crisis Center 24 hours a day any day of the year. Children who are removed from abusive and or neglectful environments stay at the shelter until appropriate placement can be arranged.

Topics include communication, self-esteem, stress management, sibling rivalry, cooperation, discipline, anger management, and parenting.

A nationally acclaimed body safety program that teaches children about sexual abuse, child abuse, and neglect in a safe and nurturing environment. Age-appropriate presentations can be administered either in a classroom setting, individually, or in small groups. The curriculum is based on five simple but powerful body safety rules that children are taught to help them stay safe.
