Family Support Center - Salt Lake

Provides child abuse counseling, respite care, crisis nurseries, general counseling, parenting education, parenting skills classes, support groups, transitional housing, and related volunteer opportunities.

Description:

Volunteers are needed to help with a wide variety of projects that involve strengthening families, protecting children, and preventing abuse.

Eligibility:
Must be 14 and accompanied by an adult or over 18 and complete a background check. No court-ordered volunteers accepted.

Description:

In-home respite care services specifically for families who have adopted one or more children from DCFS. Allows parents to run errands, attend legal appointments, or just rest and relax. Program workers are trauma-informed and trained for child care.

Families who have adopted at least one child through DCFS or another state agency.

M - Th 8 am - 6 pm; F by appointment only.

Child Care service for parents who are stressed, need a break, have an emergency arise, or have no one else to help care for their children may receive childcare assistance at one of three nursery locations in Midvale, West Valley City or Sugar House.

Description:

Provides single parent families with transitional housing, financial education, and employment assistance to learn to be more self-sufficient through the LifeStart Village program. The program is comprised of three phases of transitional and permanent supportive housing.

Eligibility:
Single parents with custody of at least one child under 12. Substance-abuse free for at least six months prior to moving in (drug screening will take place). Ability to pass a background check (no violent crimes and crimes against children). Have some form of income and ability to pay deposit.
