MAG Weatherization Assistance Program

Helps low-income individuals and families reduce energy costs and increase comfort and safety in their homes. Helps clients with energy education, energy audits, indoor air quality, combustion safety, and energy efficiency. Clients need to be approved by the HEAT program before applying to this service.

Description:

Weatherization helps low-income individuals and families reduce energy costs and increase comfort and safety in their homes. Weatherization improvements may include wall, floor, ceiling, and duct insulation; windows, caulking, door repair or replacement, weather-stripping, furnace tune-ups and repairs, carbon monoxide testing, and water heaters. The process generally takes 8-18 months. Priority is given to families with disabled, elderly, and preschool age children.

A Crisis Weatherization program is also available for people experiencing crisis as a result of broken furnaces or water heaters. Call for more information about how to apply.

Eligibility:
Based on federal guidelines of income and family size. Individuals and families who qualify for the HEAT program automatically qualify for the weatherization program.

Fees:
Homeowner: no cost; Landlord: no cost, unless willing to cost share on select services (refrigerator, furnaces, windows, and doors).
