Ogden Second District Court

State trial courts that provide jurisdiction over civil cases, including all criminal felonies, such as homicides, assaults, sex and drug offenses, robberies, misdemeanors in certain circumstances, and domestic relations cases such as divorces. Also provides the Divorces Education for Children Program. Services include child custody/support groups and legal information.

Description:

Helps children with the transition during a parent's divorce. The program provides children with skills to better express their feelings to their parents and minimize the negative effects of divorce on children. The class is taught by a mental health professional who discusses various coping alternatives to divorce.

Description:

Education course assists parents in understanding their children's reactions to their divorce and to help their children adjust to it. Parents learn how children of different ages express their pain and loss, and parenting methods for helping them cope during and after the divorce.

Eligibility:
Parents with minor children who file a petition for divorce or a petition for temporary separation must attend an orientation course.
