RRCI: Empowering People with Disabilities - Fillmore

Provides IEP support, classes and support for the transition from high school to adulthood, services for needed equipment and referrals.

Provides community-based independent living services to maximize the independence of people with various levels of vision impairment. Some of the activities may include orientation, mobility, and follow-up services, equipment services, low vision services, housing services, and transportation training.

Provides support to individuals with disabilities so they can acquire skills to advocate for themselves. Also, focus on making positive changes in the society that improves the quality of life for people with disabilities.

Provides assistive, adaptive, and rehabilitative devices for people with disabilities.

Helps residents in nursing homes identify programs that can assist them in transitioning back to their home from a nursing home.

Provides training to help people with disabilities gain skills that enable them to live independently in the community. Training topics available include budgeting and personal finance, cooking, recreation, computer/internet, attendant services management, pre-employment skills, interpersonal skills, utilization of available services, and goal setting.

Connects individuals to another person who has a similar disability and has experienced similar barriers in living independently to provide peer support.

Provides disability-related information and referral services regarding disability rights and the ADA, disability programs, benefits - SSI/SSDI/CDB, housing issues, transportation, technology, counseling and other supports, personal assistant services, independent living centers in other areas, and a wide variety of other disability-related issues.

Provides a wide variety of fun and educational activities throughout the year for youth with disabilities.
